IFFM Chats: Mithila Gupta, Rima Das & Sona Mohapatra - Women We Love

Sunday, 18th August 2024 - 02:00 PM

Conversation with three exceptional women who share one thing in common: storytelling. Be it through cinema or songwriting, they warm our hearts. These trailblazing women will share their journeys, creative processes, and what keeps them going!

Mithila, an Indian-born, Aussie-bred screenwriter, started her career in the story room of Australia’s longest-running drama, NEIGHBORS, and went on to work with giants like Netflix and BBC, among many others. Today, Mithila mentors several emerging writers and is a founding member of the Australian Writer’s Guild’s first-ever Diversity and Inclusion committee.

Rima Das’ directorial titled “My Melbourne” is opening the night at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024. The film is a collection of diverse stories addressing issues around race, gender, sexuality, and disability. Having been on the jury of the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival, among many others, Rima was named one of the 50 most influential young Indians of 2018 by GQ India.

From folk to bold beats, Sona’s voice has always swooned us. A cultural youth icon, champion for women's rights, and a changemaker, Sona has collaborated internationally with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, David Bowie, and Strings
